For an effective program for learning Mandarin from zero to intermediate go to www.chineseocw.com

We have a completely free 2 year program (pdf) that includes MP3 voice files. We have combined grammar and spoken language into one course. It is unique and effective. We also have a downloadable PINYIN chart. This course has many features that are unique. Our voice files are recorded at TWO speeds (training and native) and the substitution drills are accompanied by pinyin so bad pronunciation habits don't develop. The first unit of the grammar book has a very good explanation of the Chinese for beginners. The preface to the pinyin chart has a good explanation of how to learn Mandarin.
